Fairlawn Mansion and Museum was built in
1889 by Superior's three-time mayor Martin Pattison is an ideal example of
Queen Anne Victorian architecture. A lumber and mining baron, Martin Built
this 42 room mansion to be used as the family residence from 1891 until
1920. The home was then used as Superior's Children's Home and Refuge
Center until 1962. In 1963, the City of Superior acquired the property and
it has operated as a historic home and museum since. Within the past year,
the restoration of Fairlawn's exterior and 1st floor have been completed
and plans exist to restore the entire home to its original beauty.
Fairlawn is open for guided tours year-round
